I’ve met a lot of students in my life. I’ve taken many online courses and met students from different cultures and societies. Also, I know a lot of students in my college.
Some students are good, and some are very good.
There are some differences between great and good students.
Firstly,
outstanding students know which lesson the teacher will start today. They do basic preparation for that lesson, take notes of what they understand and what they don’t, note questions from that lesson, and ask the teacher. They also watch many videos about the lesson.
So, before going to class, read the lesson that will be taught by the teacher. This way, you will have a good understanding of the chapter and will be able to participate effectively in your class. By following this, you will stand out from other students.
Secondly
a very good student always has a goal and sets a roadmap to achieve it. Every student who wants to excel academically must study hard to achieve their goals. Many students seek easy and alternative ways to study. But from my personal experience, I’ve seen many students who choose the easy way to pass exams, but they often barely pass or even fail. When I try to complete homework quickly using easy methods, I often fail to compete with good students.
When I give suggestions to my classmates, they often ask, “Do I really have to read this? Isn’t there any alternative solution?” And in the end, they are the ones who get low marks in exams.
Thirdly: Good to great students
There are lots of students whose parents push them to study. Their parents are very concerned about their studies. But if you want to be a good student, you have to complete your lessons properly.
Remember, your parents push you because they are concerned about you. You have to give them reassurance that you are a good student and make them proud. So, once you gain their trust, you will see that they aren’t pushing you. Your job will get done without their pressure. You will see the results then.
Study hacks:
Average students always make excuses like, “Oh, I couldn’t complete my lesson because I had a headache, I had a show on TV, I had a sleepover with my friends, I was not in a situation to study,” etc.
As a human being, you could have excuses, but toppers of your class will complete their lessons regardless of the excuse. At the end of the day, it will be you and your completed or leftover work. So, the decision is yours.
Be active:
Great students always participate in extracurricular activities. They join debate clubs, speech clubs, poetry and writing competitions, science fairs, etc.
They are always involved in every sector of education.
In my college days, in the first three months, I wasn’t that active. I used to concentrate only on my studies. Then I participated in an English speech competition, and it built my confidence. After that, I continuously participated in debates, poetry recitations, Olympiads, drama, etc. By participating in these activities, I learned new skills and became known to every teacher and student in college. Participating in these activities didn’t only give me medals but also a wider knowledge along with the self-confidence to achieve more.
A good student is an asset for his family but a great student is a gem for his country.
