So, at the end of the day, we all want to become more productive. But we don’t know the ways of being productive, or we don’t follow these if we know certain rules of productivity.

I’m going to share some methods, that helped me be productive. I’ve shared these with my friends and cousins, and I’ve seen a good impact on their lives. I’ll share tricks that impacted me, my friends, and my cousins to be productive.

Turn your hours into minutes

Measure your time in minutes instead of hours. Some people consider their time in hours, not minutes, like 12 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, and so on. Many people say “at 3 o’clock”, “at 6 o’clock”. They measure their time in hours, not in minutes. Many don’t say “at 3:15 pm”, “at 4:20 pm”, etc. In the end, their work remains undone. So, those who accomplish their work measure their time in minutes. Like they would say the meeting is at 12:25, will go there by 1:40, will complete my study in 2 hours and 40 minutes.

So, measure your time in minutes, not in hours. Ultimately, you will be able to save plenty of time in a day.

Avoid Multitasking

We think that we can do multiple tasks at a time. As it can save our work time. But it’s not true; our brain cannot focus on 2 different tasks at the same time. Multitasking switches our focus constantly.

Thus, by constantly switching work, your total work gets wasted. So a better option is to focus on one task and move to another task after accomplishing it. This is scientifically proven. Also, avoid listening to music while doing work because it diverts your focus and hampers productivity.

Start the Work

The main reason for delaying work is that many people don’t start their work earlier. The hardest part of any task is often simply starting. Once you begin, your mind becomes engaged in the task. This focus fosters a state of “flow,” where you become completely absorbed in the work and distractions fade away.

The main purpose is to start your task. Start with a simple and less task as it will become easier for you to concentrate. When you start writing, you will see the whole writing will be finished; once you start reading, your chapter will be finished.

So the main obstacle to your productivity is that it discourages you from starting your first task. Once you have started, the whole task will be finished. When you have a huge workload, consider how big the work is. Just start this work with a simple task and you will see that you are finishing the work step by step. So leftover work will be done automatically.

Prevent distractions

Distractions can be said to be one of the major obstacles to productivity. Stay away from electronic devices. Don’t engage with your friends, family members, mates while working. The less you are distracted, the more focused you are and your work will be smoother.

Organize and clean your workspace

When your workspace is messy, your concentration at work not only will decrease but also you will feel like leaving your job undone.

So, set a space for your work and organize it. It will help you to stay focused. Take with you the necessary things you need. For example, if you sit for study and you don’t have a sharpener with you, you will start searching or you may go outside to buy a sharpener. It will totally distract you from your study, and you will not be able to complete your work. So, sit for work when you have the necessary tools with you.

Clean your table. Don’t keep unnecessary stuff as it will distract you from working. Remove items like chargers, brushes, headsets, leftover foods, etc.

Plan your daily tasks

A daily plan provides a clear roadmap for your workday. You know exactly what tasks need to be completed and in what order. Planning allows you to prioritize your tasks based on importance and urgency. It allocates specific time slots for each task. Also, having a clear plan reduces the urge to procrastinate. Write down a to-do list of what you want to accomplish in the day. If you constantly write your daily goals, it will make your work easy to accomplish. It will help you to start your next day.

Otherwise, you will be in confusion after waking up in the morning, wondering what should I do, what should I finish, and what was my work. You get into analysis paralysis. It means you get paralyzed by analyzing too much.

Don’t keep any option for analyzing. Just write down your tasks and start working according to them. Thus, you’ll face difficulty in making decisions. Lastly, tick off the tasks that you have accomplished like,

  • Read 8 pages
  • Test code and troubleshoot issues.

It will give satisfaction and confidence to finish the leftover tasks. Ultimately, your productivity will increase by a large amount.

Always have enough time.

Don’t always get distracted by excuses. At the end of the day, it will be you and your left work. It is better to get work done in hard times than being regretful of not doing the work. Don’t wish that if I had 2 more hours or if I had 1 more day, I would have finished the task in a way that no one has ever done it. Also, effective time management skills are crucial for maximizing productivity within the available timeframe.

So, use your time properly and try to wake up early as it will give you a wide time for your tasks to be done. Lastly, try to automate those tasks which can be automated. Works that can be done by others are done by them.

Let’s have a short brief on what we learned from this article:
